Cara McCarthy Hutchins
Founder and Principal
As the founder and principal, Cara brings more than fifteen years marketing experience to Communications, Ink. She uses her breadth of knowledge to develop integrated communications programs that help her clients succeed.
Her abilities include–
- Development of strategic marketing and media plans
- Production of printed marketing materials (corporate identity pieces, ads, brochures and websites)
- Development of interactive media including websites and social media programs
- Design, implementation and analysis of market research programs
- Copy Writing
- Account Management
After earning an AB from Vassar College, Cara worked in New York City for Salomon Brothers (where she earned her Series 7 and 63 licenses). From there, she became the Director of Investor Relations for Presidio Oil Company, a publically traded company. Cara earned her MBA from Babson College in 1993, with a concentration in International Marketing. Upon graduation, Cara worked as the Advertising Manager at State Street Bank & Trust Company where she was responsible for all global advertising and market research with an annual budget of $3 million.
Cara founded Communications, Ink in 1996 with a mission to offer her clients access to a full range affordable, actionable marketing services. Since then, she has worked with a diverse variety of organizations (from startups to Fortune 100s) helping them create marketing materials that deliver positive results. Her attention to detail and commitment to a successful outcome make her an invaluable marketing partner.
In addition to her work for her clients, Cara also provides pro-bono services to Vassar College, Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, Beverly Farms Library, Northeast Health Foundation, Beverly Farms Improvement Society, Friends of Dix Park and Trustees of Reservations.
If she were to have free time, she’d like to spend more time with her family skiing, cooking and hiking.
Cazzy has been a Graphic Designer for over 10 years. Her eye for detail and elegant style of design help her to serve her clients in both the web and print worlds.
She earned a BA in Sociology from the University of Maine and then went on to work for Dovetale Publishing in Gloucester, Ma. After working in the advertising department at Dovetale, Cazzy discovered her interest in layout and design. This led her to go on to study Graphic Design at the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston, MA.
From there, she earned a position at Mosaic Design, a small design firm in Stoneham, MA. At Mosaic, she learned the ins and outs of the Graphic Design business which lead her to start her own design firm in 1998. While continuing to work with her clients, Cazzy also served as Creative Director for the web design company Web While You Wait, Inc. in Wenham, MA.
Her Design work includes logo design, brochures, book layout and cover design, event posters and programs, print advertising, business collateral, package design, signage and web site design.
Cazzy has collaborated with Communications Ink for over 3 years on projects ranging from print pieces to web design.
