Are you as tired of these words as am I? Let’s face it– are we really all that innovative and focused? And, what do they mean anyway?
Having decided to enter the brave new world of blogging, I’ve spent the last week trying to figure out what to say. Would it be creative? focused? unique?
And then I realized, what hangs me up (and probably most people tasked with writing something that makes people pay attention and hopefully respond positively) is one simple thing… adjectives.
So I’ve been scouting adjectives in marketing materials and thinking about what they bring to the messaging table. Do they really convince me from their lofty spots on a billboard or glossy magazine? Maybe it’s just me but what sells me is the design, story and imagery.
If the design of the piece is easy to read with short copy and plenty of space to catch my breath, then I read on.
I’ll stop sooner if I’m not being narratively encouraged to keep going. And, to be cliched, a picture really does tell a thousand words. So, I recommend you consider investing in some stock photos and getting out your red pens.
I’m going to give it a superior try!
